Temperate Tides began as an idea in the summer of 2012 between two lifelong friends and fishing buddies, Preston Haytac and Joey Nicotra, as a way to share their passion of the sport of fishing with others through their experiences, photographs, and other insights.  This idea led to the creation of as a platform for them and fellow contributors to share a collective knowledge and love of fishing that has been gained over many years of living and fishing in south Florida. Whether it be chasing down giant tarpon off the coast of Sanibel or stalking redfish on the flats in Matlacha Pass, the Temperate Tides team loves to do it all. They strive to deliver exciting accounts of their fishing adventures through writing and photography in addition to reviews of gear and techniques based on first hand experiences. The goal of this blog, however, is not only to appeal to the fellow obsessed angler, but to anyone who is interested in taking a peak beyond the boarders of dry land and into the unique beauty of Florida’s majestic blue oceans and mysterious back bays. Throughout our adventures, we strongly believe in implementing sportsmanlike practices in the way we fish and conduct ourselves on the water. The conservation and protection of our delicate ecosystems and wildlife is always a priority during our time on and off the water.
